Greg Bencivengo, AIA, Associate Principal, is an experienced architect with strength in all aspects of the architectural role: concept generation, design, project management and administration. He brings over ten years of experience to his role at Slade Architecture. A thoughtful and insightful leader, Greg adroitly weaves together client goals, design team input and the realities of construction and budget. Greg has led and collaborated on projects for a diverse client base, working at various scales and typologies such as single-family homes, multi-family housing, libraries, offices, commercial campuses, landmarked buildings and hospitality spaces, among others. Greg has a proven talent for sensitively liaising with and managing institutional clients and demanding stakeholder groups through complex projects.
Greg is passionate about the role architects can play in creating positive societal change. He has advocated for healthier building materials and high-performance design (e.g. Passive House) and served on the Steering Committee of the Design for Freedom (DFF) Initiative at Grace Farms, an enterprise aimed at removing unethical labor from the construction supply chain. Greg is a co-hair of the AIA NY Committee on the Environment’s Material Health & Circularity Subcommittee. In this role, Greg engages with the broader architecture and construction industry to encourage a shift from from the current take-make-waste model toward a circular economy in design.
Greg is licensed as an architect in NY and has an undergraduate degree in Architecture from Syracuse University. He graduated with distinction and his final thesis project received a Citation for Excellence.
