We're happy to announce that Hayes Slade, AIA will be speaking at the Practice and Design Conference in Keystone Colorado on September 22nd. The lecture will be called "Considering Community"
From AIA Colorado:
"Colorado is seeing record population and economic growth. Our cities and towns are rapidly undergoing dramatic changes as new neighborhoods seemingly rise overnight and city centers appear to add cranes to the skyline daily. As architects and as agents of change involved in these projects, our actions will permanently alter our communities for generations to come.
So how do we define and redefine our communities in this dynamic, ever changing, and often reactive atmosphere?
The committee has assembled a diverse lineup of national and global speakers to share their ideas from the communities they serve--from remote islands to dense city centers and from mountain towns to the Midwestern plains. They will share their own practice experience and discuss the emerging opportunities for the profession to create new communities that grow, mature, and thrive."
Considering Community
"In this presentation, we will examine ideas of community through the work of Slade Architecture. Over the years, their work has led them to investigate how design affects community at a variety of scales. The discussion will span from the urban scale and their work writing a NYC design guide for ground floor retail spaces and active neighborhoods (published in February 2016) to the design of individual spaces aimed at catalyzing community in residential, hospitality and even retail environments."
